18/19 July 2009 - Nomads Annual Economy Run - sleepover Eendekuil Hotel
When we arrived at Damelin at about 1pm on Saturday afternoon, Alex and Kevin were already waiting, ready to go. The sun was shining and more and more participants arrived, eagerly scanning instructions and discussing routes and strategies and getting ready for the big contest.
Jonathan, Portia and Katie left early as they were our marshals at Tulbagh and were soon followed by Yvonne, Lizl and Robert - on attendance at Piketberg.
John Lee was the first to go at 2.26pm (special request as Pedrosa rides with nr 26) and then the others followed at 2min intervals with Graham Aldes bring up the rear leaving at 3pm.
Krog, Annette and myself took the direct route to Piketberg and arrived there well ahead of time and found Robert, Lizl and Yvonne relaxing in the sun and enjoying the spoils from the local Spur.
John arrived at the end venue early and were soon followed by the others. The general feeling was that the ride went well although all encountered some heavy traffic on the first part of the trip (blame the roadworks).
Everybody arrived safely at Eendekuil Hotel where we were welcomed by owners, Johan and Magda. I think I speak for everybody when I describe the venue as brilliant, the real "boerekos" excellent and the company great. Unfortunately John, Heather and Gerard hit a bit of a bummer with their accommodation at Pronkies, which did not end up so "pronkerig" after all. Sorry guys, we owe you one.
Soon after breakfast everybody were on their way home again after a very good weekend. Unfortunately news just came in that Mark Pringle had an accident about 1km from his home and is on his way to hospital. Yvonne, our thoughts are with you and we wish Mark all the best and hope to have him safely home and well again soon.

We had 18 participating motorcycles, 23 participants and 9 marshals.
