2010 Buffalo Rally, Mossel Bay

Attendance: 6 000+
Friday morning and Krog and I and friends Le Roux and Zelda were getting ready to take to the road on our way to the 2010 Buffalo Rally in Mossel Bay. The weather was good, the bikes loaded and all we needed to do was get on and ride.
After fuelling the bikes at the Engen Garage on the N2 our journey came to a abrupt halt when we hit the traffic on the throughway past Somerset West. Roadworks, roadworks, roadworks. Will we ever see the end of them again?
We eventually managed to manuevre our way pass the trucks and soon were back up to speed and on our way again. The next fuel and leg-stretching stop was Malgas and thereafter we ate up the kilometers, passing a fair amount of our boys/girls in blue en route and opting to stop at the Wimpy just before Mossel Bay. A clever move, as it was pretty calm and quiet and after a bite to eat we were on our way again - the final stretch to the campsite.
Arriving on site at about noon we were amazed at all the activity going on. Rallyists were arriving in droves, friends were getting re-acquainted, new friendships were formed and a general feeling of well-being hovered in the campsite. Food stalls were in abundance and for those with some extra cash in their pockets, various stalls were plying their wares - so plenty to choose from.
Friday afternoon we had the CMA-guys entertaining us with some awesome stuntdriving and the evening we had our normal activities such as Miss Buff, exotic dancers as well as Wet T-shirt competition and incredible music from some of our best known bands. Well done guys, it was excellent entertainment.
Saturday also had a full day of entertainment with the mass ride, concours d'elegance and more stunts as well as the highlight of the weekend - the prizegiving and give-away of R100 000. Real incredible stuff.
Thank you to the traffic officials, the medics, police, everybody who in someway were involved in making the rally a success - a well done job as always. After attending 24 Buffalo Rallies, I can just say - they are getting better and better.
To our rallyists, a huge thank you for turning up in big numbers - without you we cannot have a rally. Hope you had a good time, thank you for preserving water and hope to see all of you and many more next year - same weekend, same occasion.
Sunday morning came all to quickly and we were on our way again home to Cape Town. We just had one of the best weekends so far this year - who said all that matters in 2010 is soccer???
