The day of the trial dawned somewhat dark and threatening which could account for the lack of riders (I was under the impression that nothing could deter trials riders – wrong). Brian was excused due to bad flu (I can’t remember that Brian has ever missed a trial?) and Tony has had a motor vehicle accident injuring his sternum (we all wish him a speedy recovery). Despite dark skies the rain held off for us to complete the planned four rounds and from comments, it appears that all enjoyed the tricky/slippery sections.
The first section proved the most difficult for the experts, the best being a “three”. The clubman line was substantially easier with Neil and David both scoring a total of 4. Section two proved more difficult for clubman class with some riders choosing part of the expert line; Tim Fulcher had a great ride here with a total of 3 marks lost. Section three is an old favorite but proved more difficult than usual with Deon doing very well on the expert line. Section four was one of those sections which when setting out I would have considered easy but it was a whole other story when standing on two wheels that wouldn’t find any traction; again Deon had the best result on the experts line with Neil best on the Clubmans line. Section six was a new section which was the first of two continuous sections with experts recording relatively high scores and the clubmans line proved one of the easier ones. Section seven, a long-time classic, up a long rocky stream again took lots of marks from most [this section is very similar to those that are set in the Isle of Man International Two Day Classic trial as experienced by Brian, Earl and Hans in 2004]. Section eight was somewhat frightening requiring experts to climb an extremely large rock; Tim Jordan had a great ride here, with a total of 8 marks lost.
Well done to the two Tim’s for winning their respective classes; Tim Jordan the experts and Tim Fulcher the Clubmans.
One cannot thank Marian enough for her continuous support in allowing us the use of her land – A BIG THANK YOU.
It was great seeing Neil and David back on there trials bikes.
Brian thanks for the help Hans.
