Francois Restaurant, Fish Hoek
Sunday 17 July 2005
We awoke on Sunday to a warm gusty wind blowing in from the north. Luckily this made the road surface lovely and dry - just what we needed for the route we were to take! One bike did not want to start at Damelin. The fault? Sidestand was down!!! ( lucky for him he is not a member, Cog up awards and all!). Just after leaving Damelin, going up hospital bend towards Cape Town, we encountered a large cardboard box that was flattened and sitting up against the armscor barrier. No problem, until a gust of wind picked it up and threw it into my path. It hit me on the right side of the bike and proceeded to bounce onto Krog on his ZX10, bending his mirror in. Not satisfied, it bounced back into Harold on his CBR600 and off him into Harry's Blackbird. The last hit tore up the box and the other riders behind were covered in bits of box and polystyrene. Once past this obstacle, we went up and over Kloof Nek, some taking a short cut to pop out on Kloof Road ahead of the Club Captain! This was turning into an eventful ride! Then it was down into Camps Bay, around the twisties to Llundudno and into Hout Bay where we had a brief regroup stop. From there we headed back over Constantia Nek, down through Tokai forest and over Ou Kaapseweg into Sun Valley where we stopped again. The last leg of the ride was around past Ocean View to Scarborough, over Red Hill and through to Fish Hoek. The breakfast served was good with plenty of toast. In all there were 23 people on 14 Bikes and in 2 cars.
