REPORT ON BUFFALO RALLY WEEKEND 20 – 22 MARCH 2015 BY DELRAE MAYER – SOCIAL SECRETARY
It’s hard to believe that the Buff has been and gone. Luderick and his team went a week ahead in order to prepare. I travelled on the bus on Thursday evening 19th March as James had already left with Luderick the week before.
On Friday morning I started my duties, although I have to admit I was a bundle of nerves as this was my first Buff as Social Secretary and I know for a fact I drove Luderick crazy with all my questions! Lol
At 14h30 it was the beer drinking Male /Female competition, the winners’ prize being a dozen Glenhoff Beers.
At about 4pm Tracey Jacoby and myself went through the campsite looking for Miss Buff candidates and managed to round up 10 lovely ladies who though some were very nervous met us later at the Radio Shack which was headed up by James and Mark.
Friday night 8pm it was crowning of Miss Buff which was won by Nicole Rademeyer from Swellendam, winning for herself a Frox Bike Jacket and a one night stay for two, including breakfast at the Newlands Hotel. The First Princess was Natasha Wentschel, Second Princess was Tegan Gerber, all very pretty young ladies. After that it was Miss Wet T-shirt competition which of course the crowd loved, the winner’s prize being a helmet and a dozen Glenhoff Beers. Best tattoo and oldest t-shirt winners received a dozen Glenhoff Beers. Mr Deejay himself very kindly offered to mc these events.
Saturday 21st March we noted a change in weather , it started raining by the time it was 11h00 and time for the departure of the Mass ride from the De Bakke Resort through Mossel Bay, escorted by Mossel Bays Traffic Department and Nomads flags flying high and proud. Mossel Bays Mayor, Marie Ferreira road pillon on Wally’s bike, regardless of the rain which cleared up whilst still on the mass ride. But as you know if you are a true biker, rain or shine you will ride regardless.
Whilst on the Mass Ride the Concours d’elegance bikes were assembling at the Garden Route Casino, where the judging would be done at 14h00. The Le Riche Extreme show including the CMA Stunt Riders entertained the crowds.
Prize giving was at 20h30, with our John van der Spuy, MC of the event and Luderick handing out prizes as well. Miss buff, Nicole, handed out the main prizes, first prize of course being R125 000 and a two night stay including breakfast at the Sun Square Hotel, Gardens, Cape Town.
The Best Represented Club award went to the Odysseus Club. The food stalls really provided good food as did all the other stalls selling their wares.
Once prize giving was over it was back to Mr Deejay Disco to party the night away. I think the Buff went off very well, a fun filled weekend with a very good turnout of bikers. Thank you to everyone for making it such a great weekend and a special thank you to Mr Deejay and to all those of you who assisted me.
Till next time, be safe
Delrae
