Today was a beautiful cool crisp morning, a nice break from the sweltering heat we have had in the past couple of days and perfect weather for a ride.
We departed Damelin, took the M5, N1 route and then onto the N7. We did a pit stop at the Engen garage in Philadelphia for the weak bladder squad, our visitor, Christo also joined the weak bladder squad, proof that it is not just the ladies who have weak bladders!! Lol
It was then back onto the N7 where we later took the Wellington turn off, then the Paarl turn off, finally arriving at the venue. The roads weren’t so busy this morning probably due to most people being away for the long weekend and of course thank goodness we didn’t encounter any cyclists!
Annari and a few others were already at the venue, including Sharon Sweetnam back from the UK on a visit. Visitors Kelly and her son Storm (Sharon’s daughter and grandson) Christo and Liza, Sidney Botha, Veronica, Anton and Lee-Ann from Langebaan, Christina Kotze, Chris and Steven Matthee, Melvin Horstmann and ex nomad member Graham Aldis also joined us for breakfast. Nomads being nomads and never shy took over the restaurant as per usual and just moved the tables and umbrellas to accommodate everyone.
Breakfast was a choice of four breakfasts but most seemed to opt for a farmhouse breakfast, this consisting of eggs, bacon, beef or pork sausage, sautéed mushrooms, grilled tomato, potatoes and toast , coffee included. James, Krog and myself decided to indulge ourselves and have mega cup of cappuccino, the best decision ever! The service and the food was great, a definite improvement from last year. The venue and the view is always very tranquil and relaxed.
