REPORT ON THE BREAKFAST RIDE TO MAESTRO’S, MILNERTON – SUNDAY 4 AUGUST 2013 – BY DELRAE MAYER

What started out as a chilly cloudy morning with the sun playing peek a boo turned out to be a beautiful sunny day. On arrival at Damelin we were met by the now regular early birds and joined later by the rest of the gang.

John Potter also rode in on his blackbird and rode part of the ride with us. Capt.H gave his usual speech and on getting ready to depart Damelin this vision in green on a motorbike suddenly rushed into the parking lot. A leprechaun on a motorbike, was this possible? Was this St Patrick’s Day and had I missed it? On closer inspection we saw it was John Lee in all his glory on his green Kawasaki Ninja and of course dressed to kill in his colour coded bike gear.I believe everything on John was green even his socks but he refused to show anything else that was green and hidden! Lol

We departed Damelin towards the N2 (Settlers Way) onto the M3. We then turned right to Rhodes Ave, M63 towards Constantia Nek onto the Hout Bay Rd. We turned right onto Victoria Ave M6 past Llandudno to Camps Bay and then right onto Camps Bay road M62 to Kloofnek Road. It really was a beautiful scenic ride with the mist in the distance, although the sun was already out. Down Kloofnek road to Buitengracht and onto the N1 onto Marine Drive past Paarden Eiland and then left at Woodbridge Island to Maestro’s.

On arrival at the gate at Maestro’s the Security Guard played the power card and got the first five Nomads to individually sign in and then I think he realised it was going to take too long and let the rest of them in. One day when I am big and strong I want to be a Security Guard! Lol

Nomads and visitors alike occupied three tables with a beautiful view of the ocean. Breakfast was a buffet with plenty of bottomless coffee which the Nomads took advantage of. The breakfast itself was very nice and very filling at a good price as well at R60pp.

Great turn out, great company and beautiful weather made every moment worth it. Congratulations to Henry on celebrating his Birthday with us.

Until next time!

Be safe,

Delrae
