The third Sunday of the Month means it is a Nomad`s ride, so it was up early to get ready to lead the ride to another breakfast venue.
Off to Damelin to meet the other members, who were waiting to ride with fellow members and motorcyclists.
At 08h00 I briefed the riders on the venue and the route that we were going to take. Putting on helmets and gloves and finishing the general chatter, which just delays the start of the ride, motors running, off we set.
Turning onto the N2 and then onto the M5, the N1 service road, past Century City, and onto the N7, taking the Plattekloof Road off ramp, turning right towards the circle at the far end of Bothasig. At the circle we turned left to proceed past Burgundy Estate and Richwood and then left towards Counterman’s Kloof. At the other end of Counterman’s Kloof at the 4 way stop signs, the ride turned right to go up Vissershoek and into Durbanville. Once in Durbanville we turned left into Wellington Road and headed out of Durbanville. Just past the brick factory and the cemetery the ride turned right, over the bridge, past the small airfield and again turning right at the 4 way stop signs towards the N1.
Over the N1 and onto Stellenbosch and into the town, turning left at the big intersection out of the centre of town and then about 200 meters further the ride turned right to proceed past the health spa and head towards Helshoogte. Once we were past the traffic lights at the start of Helshoogte we rode slowly to avoid the speed cameras. Then we increased our speed to the recommended speed limit.
Through Helshoogte and over the speed bumps/traffic calming through Pniel it was onto the Franschhoek turn off, where we turned right towards Franschhoek. Riding past the motor museum, over the Bergriver and entering Franschhoek and at the Station pub and grill we turned right into the parking area. Walking through the restaurant we were seated outside under the huge tent at the long breakfast tables/benches. Coffee was self-service, but of course the hot water ran out quite quickly. Soon more hot water arrived, and we all were able to get hot coffee/tea. Breakfasts were ordered, and the general chatter got started, soon to be interrupted by the arrival of our breakfasts, with an oversupply of toast with plenty of butter and jam.
Just after sitting down at the tables, Bill Cox and Barbara Petzer joined us for breakfast. They had arrived by car as they were staying down the road.
Breakfast’s having been consumed and extra coffees ordered it was time to settle the bill. Once again, a huge THANK YOU to Mandy for handling the payment of the bill.
There were 22 members, 3 visitors, 16 bikes and 1 car.

The next ride is on the Sunday, 16th December 2018 and is going to the Ruby Rose restaurant, Riebeek Kasteel. This is the Club Captain`s Incentive ride. The cost is R120.00 per person which includes cold/hot buffet. Only eight [8] members have qualified for this ride for the club to pay for their breakfast.
They are: Luderick and Helewese Jacoby, Mike and Jenny Meiring, Kevin Farrow, Glen Kotze, Mandy Koorsen and Ian Sinclair.
