Lying in bed this morning I listened to the wind blowing and was in two minds about going on the ride. One half wanted to cuddle the blankets but the other half did not want to stay at home. Guess what, one part of me won. We arrived at Gordon’s the same time as Andre, Paul and Cornelia with Roy, Denise, Arthur and Kevin already waiting.
More Nomads arrived but the group was smaller than usual as the weather did not play nice. It was windy and chilly with some threat of rain. Andre explained the route and off we went.
The ride took us on the M5, left on the N2, left again onto Rhodes Drive – Union Drive, – Edinburgh Drive, right onto the M63 towards Constantia Nek, down the other side of the mountain towards Hout Bay, left at the first traffic circle on M6, left again at the traffic lights onto Mt Rhodes Drive, past Suikerbossie and Llandudno, where it becomes Victoria Drive, past 12 Apostles, Bakoven and into Camps Bay and Ocean Blue, our venue for the day. There we were joined by James and Delrae (caught one of those blue busses, you two??) and Mark and Yvonne.
The owners of Ocean Blue kept us parking in front of the restaurant by leaving some plastic chairs in the bay, and it was very effective. Space for all. We were pretty chilled as there was a strong north wind blowing which cooled things down even more.
As soon as we settled the waiters were ready to take our drinks and eats order. Krog, Rob and Andre opted for the “Morning Glory” breakfast and I had an omelette. We sat around chatting and enjoyed the food which was right up to standard and very affordable.
Soon it was time to get back on the road again and we took a leisurely drive around Clifton, Sea Point and then home.
Thank you all who braved the not-so-good weather this morning to join in the ride and Mark P, good to see that you are looking so much better.
There were 22 people on the ride, 21 members and 1 lone visitor (soon to be Nomad) on 12 bikes and 2 quads.
