The departure time for this ride was for 10h00 from Damelin. At 07h45 Sue Hair had telephoned to say that the wind was blowing extremely hard and that they would ride through to Soetwater to see what the conditions were like. Shortly thereafter Sue phoned back and said that Soetwater was definitely out and to cancel the braai. The Chairman was contacted, and he put a message on facebook to say that the ride was still on and would still depart at 10h00 and the ride would be going to the Coffee Bar at the Spar at Edgemead Shopping Centre.
We arrived early at Damelin and waited for more members to arrive. As it got closer to 10h00 more members arrived. At 10h00 I briefed the riders as to where the ride was going and the reason for the change in venue.
We departed Damelin and proceeded onto the N2, the M5 over Koeberg Interchange and onto the service road of the N1, turning left onto the N7 and taking the Bosmansdam Road off ramp, turning right towards Edgemead. At the 3rd traffic lights we turned right into Letchworth Drive and then turned right into the parking area of the Edgemead Shopping Centre and parked in the parking area reserved for motorcycles.
We walked into the shopping centre and settled down at the tables, joining David and Tracey who had gone direct and Mike and Jenny who had gone by Car. Breakfasts were ordered, and we settled down to chat in general, when the breakfasts arrived, and everybody enjoyed their meal.
The cost of breakfast was well worth the money, as the Chairman and his wife eat there regularly. At least once a week. The bill was paid, and we all left for prior arrangements.
There were 12 members, 7 bikes and 1 car.
The following members have qualified for the Club Captain`s incentive breakfast to be held at Ruby Rose, Riebeek Kasteel. Departing Damelin at 08h00 on Sunday, 16th December 2018.
