REPORT ON THE CLUB BREAKFAST RIDE TO THE GOLFING GOAT RESTAURANT, PAARL GOLF CLUB, BOSCHENMEER ESTATE, PAARL ON SUNDAY 17th OCTOBER 2021 – BY IAN SINCLAIR

This Sunday morning was cloudy with a bit of rain predicted. This morning the meeting place was McDonalds at N1 city, due to the Cape Town Marathon taking placing and running past Damelin. Previous years we have always struggled to get to Damelin. At 08h00 I briefed the riders on the route and the venue and off we set.
Exiting N1 City we turned right into Vasco Boulevard and again right onto the N1. Only 6 bikes left N1 City, David and Tracey Jacoby being late for the departure point and time.
We continued on the N1 in the right lane until we started to approach the Paarl area and then we moved over to the left lane to take the off ramp to the R301. At the end of the off ramp, we turned right onto the R301 and under the N1 Bridge. Another couple of 100 meters and it was time to turn right into the Boschenmeer Estate and stop at the security control point and produce your bike license and to have the bikes license token scanned. Once that was done it was a slow ride towards the club house and parking area.
Our hostess, Francis Niewoudt and her husband met us outside and lead us up to the restaurant and actually joined us at our reserved table for breakfast. Soon David and Tracey arrived, and they sat opposite our hostess and host and they all held a conversation throughout breakfast.
A good breakfast was had by all and soon it was time to pay for our meal and return to our respective homes.
A very big Thank you to all the riders for attending the ride with such unpredictable weather hanging about wanting to rain on us. It is appreciated by me and the committee.
There were 9 members, 2 visitors and 7 bikes.
