Waking up on this morning and checking on the weather it looked great to attend another club ride. Soon it was time to depart home, stopping along the way to refuel.
Upon arrival at Damelin at 08h00 to an empty parking area. Soon other members started to arrive. At 08h30 I briefed the riders on the restaurant and the route and then it was helmets and gloves on and start up the bikes.
Leaving Damelin we turned right onto the N2 and took the left off ramp onto the M5, proceeding over Koeberg Interchange onto the N1. Staying in the left lane to avoid the pedestrian/vehicle accident in the middle lane and to utilize the service road past Century City.
At the end of the service road, we turned left onto the N7, heading towards Malmesbury. Just past the Swartland One Stop we then took the Philadelphia off ramp and turned right under the N7. Slowing down as we entered Philadelphia and then increased our speed once we had left the small town.
Riding through the farmlands there was a bit of mist, but it was not affecting our visibility or our riding conditions. At the end of this road at the T junction, we turned left onto the Klipheuwel road, coming from Durbanville. Turning left onto the R44, now heading towards Malmesbury.
Whilst riding on the R44 there were a couple of super bikes, that went past us at very high speeds and disappeared into the distance. Soon it was time to turn right onto the Vryguns road.
A couple of kilometres later we turned left into the property of Perdeberg, parking our bikes in front of the wooden picket fence. The car parking area is to the right of the entrance. Then we had to fill in the Covid 19 form and write down our temperatures.
Upon entering the restaurant area, tables had been set out for us outside, where it was a lot warmer than it was inside. Cappuccinos were ordered and arrived quickly. Then we ordered our breakfasts, and we did not have to wait long, before our breakfasts were placed in front of us. Prior to the breakfasts being served, the chatter was going from one end of the table to the other end. Once the breakfast was served, silence descended on the table, while we all enjoyed our meal.
Breakfast having been consumed and the bill settled, it was time to depart for our respective prior arrangements. Some members choosing to return via the route we had taken to get there, others choosing to use an alternative route home.
There were 9 members, 1 visitor and 8 bikes.
Thank you to those members and visitor who attended the ride. It is appreciated by me and the committee.
The next club ride is on Sunday, 15 August 2021, going to I.M.I. [Italian Motorcycle Importers], Marconi Business Park, Koeberg road, Milnerton.
