REPORT ON THE CLUB BREAKFAST RIDE TO THE TO BRICK LANE EATERY, OFF PARK LANE, CENTURY CITY, ON SUNDAY 21st NOVEMBER 2021 – BY IAN SINCLAIR

Another nice sunny Sunday for riding our bikes. It was a bit windy, which kept the temperature down, otherwise it would have been very hot.
As this was the second ride of the month, it was a short ride.
Off to Damelin to meet up with the other riders. Warm friendly greetings exchanged amongst the riders and pillions, then it was time to brief the riders on the venue and the route.
Turning right from Liesbeek Parkway onto the N2 and taking the next exit onto the M5, we continued over the Koeberg flyover onto the service road of the N1, past Century City, taking the off ramp to the N7. We stayed on the N7 until the Melkbosstrand turnoff and headed towards the R27, West Coast Road. Riding along this road we were blown about by the gusts of wind from our left, fortunately they were not too bad, that nobody lost total control. At the R27 we turned left, back towards Cape Town, with Table Mountain in the background. By far the best sight in the World.
Continuing along the West Coast Road, through Table View and over Flamingo Vlei, we turned left into Racecourse Road, past the Paddocks Shopping Centre up to Koeberg Road. At Koeberg Road we turned right heading towards Milnerton CBD.
At Bosmansdam Road we turned left, heading towards the N7. At the last intersection before the N7, we turned right into Century Boulevard to ride through Century City. Round various traffic circles.
As we had a bit of time to spare, I missed the turn off into Park Lane and had to ride to the next intersection to make a U turn to ride back to Park Lane. The restaurant Manager had previously requested that we only got there at 09h00.
Turning right now at Park Lane and then left into Brick Lane, up the ramp into the parking area. We parked our bikes and walked into the restaurant to find Glen and Priscilla, who were forced to go by car as Glen’s bike had a puncture in the rear wheel. Warren and Bryony had gone direct by bike. Val Horn was waiting in the car park in her car.

Having found seating, we ordered our beverages and checked out the menu and ordered our breakfasts and started to socialize.
David and Tracey arrived shortly after we had, having slept late/overslept. They arrived in their 4 wheeled rolling cage.
Soon the beverages and breakfasts arrived and in between mouthfuls of food the conversations continued. Once the food had been consumed and socializing was over, and the bill/s were paid we all departed to our various homes and prior arrangements.
There were 17 members, 5 visitors, 11 bikes and 3 cars.
Thank you to all the members and visitors who attended this ride. It is really appreciated by me and the Committee.
