REPORT ON THE CLUB CAPTAIN’S INCENTIVE CHAMPAGNE BREAKFAST RIDE TO THE SEAFOOD LAPA, MELKBOSSTRAND 16 NOVEMBER 2014 – BY DELRAE MAYER

I didn’t know what to expect weather wise this morning, to take the rain suits or not but I am glad I went with my gut feeling and left the rain suits at home as it turned out to be a beautiful day, be it a little windy.
On arrival at Damelin there were already a few nomads in attendance waiting patiently for our fearless leader Capt. H and the rest of the Nomads to arrive.
Capt. H did his usual speech and we were off departing Damelin onto the M5. It was then onto the N1, N7, taking Contermanskloof route ( I believe Mike doesn’t like Contermanskloof for some reason) John Lee and Krog were having fun chasing each others tails and then it was onto the N7 and taking the Melkbosstrand turn off and arriving at the venue. A few Nomads were already there sitting in the shade, Captain Fantastic (Glen) crutch and all.
Captain H and Luderick made a speech and did a champagne toast. Breakfast was the traditional breakfast which included coffee, anything extra ordered was for your own bill. I heard and saw evidence that Capt. H also drinks milkshakes on the very rare occasion but today he was a strictly brandy and coke man. It takes a man to drink a milkshake and let himself be photographed doing it as well!
Ian Peters brought his daughter Nicole along for the ride, she looks so much like her mother it’s confusing.
Thanks to the Nomads Committee for the breakfast and to fellow Nomads for a great morning, you guys rock!
Til next time
Be safe
