On waking this morning I didn’t know what to make of the weather but I decided to dress as cool as possible which worked for me when the sun came out and it got a lot warmer.
On arrival at Damelin we were surprised to see a good Nomads turnout. A little while later a few more Nomads arrived including our Road Captain and Mandy. After a shout and a whistle to get everyone’s attention Ian explained the route, although I am not sure how many would remember and we were off. We departed Damelin college , turned onto Liesbeeck Parkway and onto the N2, Nelson Mandela Boulevard onto Christian Barnard road, Table Bay Boulevard and onto the N1, turning off at Marine Drive. We continued along Marine Drive, the Westcoast Road, down Sandown Road, Potsdam Road, Contermanskloof Road, turning onto Durbanville Hills Road then down Tygervalley Road onto Van Riebeeckshof Road and then arrived at the Hollow Tree Restaurant.
We were seated at tables outside, some of us opting to sit in the shade under the trees in the beautiful tranquil surroundings. There was different juices, champagne on the table and coffee /tea if preferred. Ian and Ludi made a short speech, we drank our champagne and then it was breakfast time which consisted of a buffet, which was very yummy and very filling. It was Wally’s birthday and some of us attempted to sing to him. David and Tracey Jacoby also joined us on their new motorbike this morning, congrats may you have many pleasurable, safe rides. I am sure you have made the connection that David and Luderick are brothers, good looking fellows these two, obviously good genes in this family! Lol
A big thank you to our Road Captain, Ian for a most pleasurable breakfast ride, be it slower than on past rides, but he kept the club together which is so important. This is what a staggered ride is all about and not racing ahead and forgetting about your fellow bikers otherwise you may as well ride on your own. No pit stop for the weak bladder gang today but there are still many rides to go! Lol . Our Nomads flag flew high today and we got a few hoots from passing motorists.
