It was a lovely start to the day, we had a great turn out including lots of visitors, on and off bikes.
We met bright and early at Damelin as usual.
We took the Liesbeek Park way turn off onto the M5 toward Muizenberg way.
We went past a lot of new places that I had never see before i.e.: Lavender Hill – yes, we have all heard of it, but who knew where it was? I now know. We went along the M5 past Plumstead, Marina Da Gama (I think) all the way to the circle at Muizenberg Beach. We went right onto Baden Powell Drive. The wind was quite strong and at one stage we had to slow down as the sand was blowing across the road. I had never been out this way so it was interesting. The beach looked kind of rough and wild, there was just nothing out there, it seemed so strange.
We passed Khayelitsha on the left – people it is so huge it is unbelievable. Then there was this ship in the middle of nowhere – how random – it must have been a film shoot or something. We then turned left on to the N2 and then onto the R300. From the R300 we went onto the N1 all the way along to the Plattekloof turn off.
We had breakfast at De Kelders in Plattekloof. We were met by our Quad fellows at the Center. The restaurant was nice, the service was a little slow but the breakfast was great and the coffee good. The view of Table Mountain was awesome. The company was good and it was so nice that there were so many people – that was “Cool”.
Luderick gave a goodbye speech to Alistair as he is leaving on Tuesday to work in Canada. Most of us then went on our way – some did stay to enjoy the beautiful day on the outside patio area.
There were 29 members and 7 visitor. There were 15 bikes and 8 cars.
Breakdown of the bikes.
BMW 7, Honda 2, Triumph 2, Yamaha 2, Suzuki 1 & Kawasaki 1.
Thank you all for a lovely morning.
Carole
