Another lovely Winter`s day dawned for the ride this morning. At Damelin the regular riders arrived, except for the Chairman and his wife and Glen as they had attended the Whale rally in Hartenbos outside Mossel Bay. This morning`s ride was fairly straight forward. Departing from Damelin we proceeded onto the short section of the N2, turning left onto the M5, proceeding onto the N1, taking the service road past Century City turning onto the N7. At the Melkbosstrand turnoff we turned left turning right onto the West Coast road, where Paul and Cornelia were waiting for the group. The ride then proceeded all the way along the West Coast road. This particular ride seemed to go on forever as I was on Mandy`s 883 sportster super low. No fairing, no screen, a very naked bike. My bike being in for repairs and servicing. Langebaan just did not seem to be getting any closer and I was now starting to feel the tendons in my lower arms were taking strain against the elements and my neck muscles were also starting to hurt with no protection against the wind/elements. Finally the turn off to Langebaan appeared and it was a relief to turn left towards Langebaan. We road down to Langebaan as a club, turning right towards Club Mykonos and Dockside Café. Through security and round the bottom circle, turning left off the circle just before we exited the circle onto the garden path, as named by Cornelia on a previous visit, through to Dockside Café, where were met by Annamarie, the owner of Dockside Café. She explained the breakfast to us and then we were able to help ourselves to tea, coffee and a shot glass of sherry. We all sat outside on the dock/jetty in the sun. Having consumed our breakfast and settled the bill everybody started to get ready to leave. I was the last person to leave and now I faced that long road back home on the naked bike, but it was worth it, with the delicious breakfast and pleasant company at the breakfast tables.
In total there were 19 members. 4 visitors. Bikes 13. Cars 2. BMW-3, Harley Davidson-1, Honda-3, KTM-2, Kawasaki-1, Suzuki-2, Yamaha-1. Thank you to all the members and visitors who took the time and effort to get up early on a Sunday morning and join the ride and enjoying fellow riders company.
Until next time travel safely.
Regards.
