This ride being Krog`s first official ride for 2016 he could not have wanted better weather. Bright sunshine, clear skies and lots of warm weather.
Upon arrival at Damelin there were already quite a few members ready for the ride. More members soon rode in to Damelin and then it was time for Krog to give his route brief.
Soon after we all set off onto the N2, onto the M5 and onto the N1. Where the ride stayed all the way to the Klapmuts/Wellington R44 turnoff. The ride turned left towards Wellington, through Paardeberg area, and at the four way stop where we turned left onto the R45. Krog stopped the ride to contact the restaurant and to let the tail enders catch up to the group. He was unable to contact them despite the fact that they had phoned him while we were on the ride. After trying both numbers the group set off again.
We continued along the R45 until the R46 where the ride turned right towards Riebeeck Kasteel and Bothmaskloofpass. At the bottom of the aforementioned pass we turned left towards Riebeeck Kasteel, bypassing the turnoff to Riebeeck West. A couple of more kilometers through the countryside and then it was time to slow down and turn left into the Pleasant Pheasant Restaurant. All of us trying to find parking in the shade of the trees outside the restaurant.
It was time to remove helmets, gloves and jackets and place them on the tables outside and find space at the tables. Having a top box on my motorcycle the helmets, gloves, jackets and my neck brace all fitted in the top box and right side pannier box.
Once seated at the tables the waiters took our drinks and breakfast orders. Good quality and quantity of food for reasonable prices. The sprinklers were turned on and the temperature did go down a little bit. It all depended on how you sat under the umbrellas, but you could either end up with a sprinkling of water in your food or a wet seat. All in all it was a very pleasant ride.
There were 30 members and 3 visitors on 23 bikes.
Having settled our breakfast bill most of us set off for our respective residence`s to settle down in the cool of our homes.
