After a hot very much sleepless night, I woke Krog up at about 5h45 so we had plenty of time to get ready for the first ride of the year.
We filled up with petrol and made our way just to find Christo and Liza already at Damelin. Christo was armed with his camera and clearly enjoyed taking pictures of everyone.
Krog did his speech (short and sweet) and Mike and Kevin volunteered as tail end Charlie 1 and 2.
The route took us onto the N2, M5, N1 up to the R44 where we turned left towards Wellington. At the 4-way stop just before Wellington we turned left onto the R45 and a pitstop as Krog tried to contact the venue again, but with only voicemail success. A few kilometers before Malmesbury we turned right onto the R46 and carried on towards our venue of the morning, Pleasant Pheasant in Riebeeck Kasteel.
We opted for the tables under the huge trees and the friendly staff was on hand to take our drinks and eats orders. The mist sprinklers were turned on and it was definitely a excellent tool in countering the heat that has been bugging the Cape for the last week or two.
The preferred breakfast was either bacon, eggs, sausage, mushrooms, tomato, toast and preserves or toasted sarmies. I know Tracey had French toast and gathering from the huge smile on her face, I can only assume it was pretty yummy.
As we sat chatting, most of the members slowly started getting their gear into shape and making their way home again. Mike and Simon definitely made the most of the mist spray to cool down before taking on the long road towards Cape Town.
Susan, Devin (ex Nomad member), Krog and myself followed Richard and Judy to their home in the quaint little “boere” town of Moorreesburg where we stayed for a chat and a cool drink and then took on the boring N7 home.
Thank you everyone who attended the ride this morning. Hope to see you all again in two weeks time and those who did not make it, hope to see you too.
I believe Luderick missed the ride this morning because he is not well. We missed you guys, speedy recovery and hope to see you on the next ride.
