REPORT ON THE CLUB’S BREAKFAST RIDE TO THE SIMONDIUM COUNTRY CLUB, PAARL ON 19 JUNE 2016 – BY JEAN POTGIETER

My beady eyes have been glued to the weather forecast the whole week but it would not change. 100% forecast for rain on Sunday. Now, don’t get me wrong. I love the rain and we need plenty of it, but on the other hand it would have been great to have some sunshine on the ride.

Well, Sunday morning arrived windy and wet and I kept pulling the duvet over my head just thinking about the cold outside. And then a phone call. Lizl inviting me to take a lift with them to the venue. Todds to the rescue!

At Damelin four true bikers gathered before taking the shortest possible route to the venue. Krog, Glen, Mark P and our very Prez John took to the wet road on N2, M5, N1, R44 turn off, second robot on R302 and venue for the morning Simondium Country Club.

A huge glass of Obeez was waiting on arrival and as usual, the spread of goodies to eat was absolutely awesome. Fruit and yogurt, apple Danish, different cereals, home made muesli, etc etc. and then the hot side with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, tomato, baked beans, hash browns, toast and juice, tea or coffee. What more could we ask?

A disappointing turn-out of 14 people with 13 members, 1 visitors on 4 bikes and 5 cars.

Thank you all you guys and gals who got out from under those warm duvets to join us for the breakfast this morning. Really appreciate everyone of you.
Will definitely visit this venue again but will do so in the summer time and hoping for a record turn-out.

That is it for now.
Keep safe.
Cheers
Jean
