Everybody who was interested in the MotoGP was up early this day. Some a whole lot earlier than others. I only wanted to watch the MotoGP so I only got up at 06h30. I settled down in front of the TV and thoroughly enjoyed the racing. I doubt that we will not see another race like that. At the end there was no time to listen to interviews as it was in and out of the shower, get dressed and pull the bike out and head off to Damelin to meet up with our fellow Nomad`s riders.
Approaching the N2 on the M5 I saw Mike and Jenny taking the off ramp from the M5 to the N2, which meant that they would be at Damelin before me. Upon arrival at Damelin there were quite a few members waiting already and the general discussion was about the fantastic racing. The last one or two riders arrived and then it was time for my greeting and thanking the members for supporting the Bikers 4 Bandanas, Sunflower Fund.
The route was a simple and short one. Namely, departing Damelin, turning right onto the N2, left onto the M5, over Koeberg Flyover onto the N1 taking the service road past Century City. Turning left onto the N7 all the way up to Plattekloof Road off ramp by the refinery, down to Koeberg Road and turning right into Koeberg Road proceeding into the Killarney International Raceway. Here the marshals/officials were only too happy to relieve us of R50.00 each and present us with our Sunflower Foundation metal badge. We were then directed to the subway under the back straight into the pit area where we found parking. Here everybody mingled around greeting other motor cyclists.
Soon the signal sounded for the start of the mass ride. All the motor cyclists gathered on the back straight, then it was off on a circuit of the track, exiting at the back gate turning left onto Koeberg Road, through Du Noon, turning left and right onto the N7. From there the ride took the Melkbosstrand turnoff and proceeded across the West Coast Road, through Melkbosstrand onto the beach road turning left into Blaauwberg Road, back to Koeberg Road and back to Killarney.
It was then time to head into the club house and pay for my hair cut. I had been growing my hair for this occasion for the past five months. I had the shortest cut possible, a number one, which is the shortest before shaving my head. Time now to get something to eat and drink. The food was reasonably priced and good tasting. The music was also very good, considering the age of the two musicians. The mass ride participants were well behaved and as far as I know there were no incidents. Thank you to the efficient foot and mobile marshals.
There were 20 members and 3 visitors on the ride. 12 bikes and 2 cars. The cars went direct to Killarney.

It was a very well attended event.
