I made myself comfortable in my chair watching the Proteas and India battling it out in the 3rd ODI and guess what, I fell asleep. Krog woke me up about 5 minutes before we were to leave for the sunset run. If you know me in any way, you will know that I can hardly remember my own face and name if you wake me up like that, so needless to say I put shoes on my feet and a helmet on my head without actually opening my eyes.
But that soon came to an end when we hit the N1 and the wind buffeting me from all sides. At Damelin we were met by Robert and Simon with Pietie, mini-me Alan and Glen arriving soon afterwards. More Nomads arrived and after Ian did his speech, 13 of us on 9 bikes braved the windy conditions en route to the venue.
The route took us onto the N2, left on M5, N1 up to the Klipheuwel Turn-off left(R304), then left again for a short bit pass the Silos (R302), then right towards Philadephia and then left again onto the N7 towards Melkbosstrand. Another right turn onto the M14 took us through Melkbosstrand and onto Otto du Plessis Drive towards Blouberg and our venue of the day Buena Vista Social Café at Eden on the Bay.
On arrival we were met by faithful Yvonne and her camera and quite a few other Nomads members and visitors who took shortcut to the venue. As we were all seated Henry and Antionette arrived and seating arrangements were quickly made to accommodate them. Our drinks arrived fairly quickly but the food was a different story. Some people were clever and ordered as they arrived but we were not that lucky. Put it this way, we arrived at the venue at 17h30 and I was the last to receive my food at 18H15. Needless to say that at that moment my appetite was somewhat muted. Mandy had tapas, and most of the others opted for a burger. I ordered calamari and that might be the reason for my food taking so long. Maybe they had to go fishing first.
The time past quickly with plenty of conversations going on at the same time and soon it was time for us to say our goodbyes and head off home. We arrived just in time for the second Superbike race so that was Krog for the evening.
A fairly good turn out taking into consideration that it was Bandana Day with 23 members and 6 visitors on 12 bikes and 3 cars.
