It was a nice change having a sunset ride as opposed to a breakfast ride even though the wind decided to ride along with us! Nice to see join the ride was John “Grandpa” Potter, Alex, Jonathan Barber, Arthur, Ian Sinclair “minus his blue light ” and Gwen, who although having a broken wrist, sat pillion on Simon’s bike. Roy Cowney surprised us all by arriving on his new BMW 650.
We departed Damelin at 4pm and took the route M5, onto the N1 and then took the Stellenbosch turn off, through the town over to the N2 towards Somerset West. Just before Sir Lowry’s Pass we turned off to Gordon’s Bay. Arriving at the Yacht Club we received a warm welcome and Nomads being Nomads headed straight for the bar! Most people chose to watch the rugby and relax for a while. Sandy Schreiber, Pat Bierman, Marcelle and Paul were already there at the venue. “Aunty Helewese minus her crutches” also joined us for supper so lovely to so her again.
Some of us opted to sit outside and appreciate the beautiful view and tranquil atmosphere. Supper consisted of a choice of lasagne, hamburger and chips, fish and chips and pudding for those with a sweet tooth. Time went by so quick, everyone seemed to be having a great time and when we looked again it was 8pm and time to leave.
